Not Cinderella's Type delivers a powerful message about emotional abuse in a semi-lighthearted story. As a parent, I appreciated the movie as a chance to introduce discussing emotional abuse, which tends to be a more overlooked and a culturally acceptable form of abuse.

Our Cinderella in Not Cinderella's Type by Jenni James is Indy Zimmerman who lives with her Aunt and Uncle and their two daughters. Indy lives in the attic and has the bare minimum and is expected to earn her keep by working around the house.

Normally this is not my type of movie. But I really enjoyed this modern retelling of the Cinderella story when I watched it with my wife. It's quite moving with some strong acting by the actors playing the three main teenage characters: Indy, Bryant, and Max.
